What is the County Committee?

The Democratic Party is governed by committees of registered Democrats at every level, from national down to local. County is the most local level in New York City. Kings County is another name for Brooklyn.

What is the County Committee supposed to do?

— Choose local judicial candidates
— Choose the party nominee in special elections
Fact: 1 in 3 NY state legislators were originally chosen in a special election!
— Help create the Democratic party platform
— Organize local neighborhoods
… and more.

And what does the current County Committee actually do?

Show up once every two years and hand power over to the party boss!

Why is that a problem?

Let’s just say: 3 of the last 4 party bosses have been indicted for corruption, and the current one is under investigation. Brooklyn deserves better!

What do we want?

Brooklyn is one of the most Democratic counties in the country. We think we should set the standard for innovation and progressivism, and demand competence and transparency from our local elected officials. We’re uniquely positioned to advocate for and effect systemic change in our dysfunctional state and local governments.

But in order for that to happen, we need your help.
