Run For Office

You should run for County Committee.

In 2008, New Kings Democrats helped about 60 Brooklynites run for County Committee, and in 2010 we are hoping to build on that success.

NKD will be having info sessions to help County Committee candidates get ready to run, but in the meantime, you should check your voter registration status with the NY State Board of Elections HERE, and determine which Assembly District you live in HERE.

Important Dates

The Primary Election, when the members of the Kings County Democratic County Committee will be elected, is September 14, 2010.

The last day for new NY State voters to register to vote in the September 14th primary election is August 20th, 2010.  *You must register as a Democrat in order to vote in the NY State Democratic Primary.

PLEASE NOTE: If a voter, registered in New York City, moves WITHIN the City and fails to reregister from his new address BEFORE the cut off date OR, if the voter moves WITHIN NYC AFTER the deadline to register, he/she should go to his NEW polling site on election day and vote on an affidavit ballot. His/her name will not appear in the poll list book, hence the affidavit ballot.

If you don’t receive an Acknowledgment from the Board of Elections that your registration was received within 20 days after submission of registration form, please call TOLL FREE FOR NYC RESIDENTS 1-(866) V-O-T-E-N-Y-C (1-866-868-3692), OR 1 (212) V-O-T-E-N-Y-C (outside NYC) or your local Board of Elections to verify that your application was received and processed.
